July 13th saw the inagural CARs Shoot Out. Great attendance at the event - the stands were full, and over 120 cars registered. Unfortunately Mother Nature decided everyone was having too much fun and turned the taps on as the cars were getting ready to make their second passes.

A great big thank you to all of the drivers, volunteers, track staff, and fans that turned out to kick off our drags with a whole lot of burned rubber! Also a huge thank you to Southside Dodge Chrysler Jeep and RV Centre for stepping up as the sponsor for the Shoot Out.

https://www.facebook.com/caraceways/photos has some great shots of all the action - for those of you that aren't Facebook fans, images will be uploaded to our galleries here as well in the near future.

Shootouts have been postponed until Sunday July 10 due to poor weather conditions. Registration, practice and race times remain the same for Sunday's event.

Drag Strip Construction Update - January 2012

2011 was a very productive year for the CAR Drag Strip, thanks to the hard work of many individuals the drag strip base work has been completed.  The drag strip elevations are above engineer design and significant work has been completed to expand and enhance the drainage to the entire facility.  In the spring we'll all have our fingers crossed as the snow melts confirming correct water run-off grades.  Afterwards the final seal can be put on the base work as the committee engages local companies to provide the finish paving and concrete work!  If all goes according to plan we should be having our annual shoot-outs on the 1/4 mile drag strip in July.

Many thanks goes out to everyone involved in the design and construction of our 1/4 mile drag strip.
